Xiaomi Pad 8 Teased with Snapdragon 8 Elite and Flagship Specs

Xiaomi Pad 8

Xiaomi just dropped a hint about something pretty exciting coming our way. The company’s planning to launch the Xiaomi Pad 8 series alongside their upcoming smartphone lineup later this month.

Lu Weibing, Xiaomi’s general manager, shared a teaser poster on Weibo that shows off the new tablets. The design looks pretty similar to what we’ve seen before, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. The poster confirms the Pad 8 series will work with a detachable keyboard and stylus, which is great news for folks who want to use their tablet for work.

Here’s what we know so far. The Pad 8 will stick with the tried-and-tested 11.2-inch screen size that many people love. Xiaomi promises it’ll stay lightweight and easy to carry around, which makes sense for a tablet you might want to take on the go.

The really interesting part is what’s inside. According to Lu Weibing’s post, the Pad 8 will pack a high-performance processor and run HyperOS 3 based on Android 16.

Recent leaks suggest we might see the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset paired with 16GB of RAM in these tablets. That’s a massive jump from last year’s Pad 7 series, which used the less powerful Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chip. If these specs turn out to be accurate, the Pad 8 could handle pretty much anything you throw at it.

The charging situation looks interesting too. Leaks suggest that the main difference between the standard Pad 8 and the Pro version will be how fast they charge. The Pro model is expected to support 67W fast charging, while the regular version will stick with 45W. Both tablets are rumored to come with a 10,000mAh battery, which should easily last a full day of heavy use.

Xiaomi hasn’t announced an official launch date yet, but since they’re teasing it now and the Xiaomi 17 series is expected later this month, we probably won’t have to wait much longer. The company seems confident enough to start building hype, which usually means the launch is just around the corner.

The launch strategy works well for Xiaomi. Launching tablets alongside their flagship phones gives people a complete ecosystem of devices to choose from. Plus, with the holiday season approaching, having fresh tablets on the market could work out pretty well for their sales numbers.

The tablet market has been getting more competitive lately, with companies trying to offer laptop-like experiences at tablet prices. Xiaomi’s approach of including accessories like keyboards and styluses right from the start shows they’re serious about competing in the productivity space.
