Pre-orders for Apple’s iPhone 17 lineup opened on September 12 across more than 60 countries, including the US, UK, India, Germany, Japan, and Australia. Apple had set September 19 as the official launch date, but things are already shifting for the most in-demand model — the iPhone 17 Pro Max.
In the US, delivery estimates for the Pro Max have quickly slipped. Many configurations now show a 3–4 week delay, pushing expected arrival into early October. The demand appears to be across the board, with all colors and storage options affected. Even the new finishes, such as Cosmic Orange, are seeing some of the longest wait times.
Interestingly, the regular iPhone 17, the iPhone 17 Pro, and the iPhone Air are not facing the same crunch. Most of their variants are still available for September 19 delivery or close to it. For the Pro Max, however, you’ll likely need patience unless you’re lucky with in-store stock. Some Apple Stores may still have launch-day pickups available, so it’s worth checking nearby locations if you missed the first wave of online orders.
For those still weighing their options, here’s a quick look at pricing:
| Region | iPhone 17 | iPhone Air | iPhone 17 Pro | iPhone 17 Pro Max |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| US | $798 | $998 | $1,098 | $1,198 |
| Germany | €948 | €1,198 | €1,298 | €1,448 |
| UK | £798 | £998 | £1,098 | £1,198 |
| India | ₹82,800 | ₹119,800 | ₹134,800 | ₹149,800 |
| China | ¥5,998 | ¥7,998 | ¥8,998 | ¥9,998 |
| Japan | ¥129,700 | ¥159,700 | ¥179,700 | ¥194,700 |
So, if you’re aiming for the Pro Max, especially in the higher storage tiers or new colorways, expect a longer wait. Everyone else should be able to get their iPhone 17 by the promised September 19 launch date — but stock is moving fast, so don’t sit on it too long.
