Samsung has quietly expanded its budget lineup with the launch of the Galaxy A17 4G. The phone showed up just a day after it slipped through in a premature store listing, and now it’s officially on sale in Germany starting at €199 for the 6GB RAM and 128GB storage option. That makes it about €30 cheaper than its 5G twin.
On the outside, the A17 4G looks almost identical to the Galaxy A17 5G, but the change is inside. Instead of Samsung’s Exynos 1330, this version runs on MediaTek’s Helio G99, a chip built to handle everyday use without pushing costs up. The rest of the hardware stays consistent: a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution and a smooth 90Hz refresh rate, an IP54 rating to keep out dust and splashes, and a 5,000mAh battery with 25W charging.
Cameras are another highlight for this price. You get a 50-megapixel main sensor with OIS for sharper photos, paired with a 5-megapixel ultra-wide lens and a 2-megapixel macro shooter. Up front, a 13-megapixel selfie camera sits in a punch-hole cutout.
The software side is where Samsung is really leaning in. The Galaxy A17 4G ships with One UI 7 on top of Android 15, and the company is promising six years of updates — both major OS versions and security patches. That kind of long-term support is rare in this price range and could make the A17 4G a safe buy for anyone looking for a reliable daily driver without spending much.
