Samsung might not make us wait this time. A new report out of South Korea says the Galaxy S26 series is tracking for a late January 2026 Unpacked event, with sales starting in early February. That nudges the Samsung Galaxy S26 release date window earlier than the late‑February timeline that made the rounds earlier this month.
The move would fit Samsung’s usual rhythm. In recent years, big Galaxy launches often landed in January or early February, then preorders opened right away, and retail started about a week or two later. So late January for Unpacked and early February on shelves sounds about right.
The same report says the lineup sticks to three phones: Galaxy S26, S26 Plus, and S26 Ultra. It also repeats the chip split many fans expect. Exynos 2600 for the S26 and S26 Plus, Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for the Ultra. In plain words, the Ultra would lean on Qualcomm’s top mobile chip, while the other two run Samsung’s own silicon. Regions sometimes vary, but the source ties the chips to the models, not markets.
Do not look for an Edge version. According to the report, a Galaxy S26 Edge is off the table, with the outlet pointing to weak Galaxy S25 Edge sales, about 1.3 million units in the first three months, roughly 74 percent behind the Plus. Naming has bounced around over the years, so that part is one to watch, but there is no official Edge mention for S26.

Samsung Galaxy S26 release date
If you plan to upgrade, wait till late January to catch the livestream. Have trade‑in values ready, and keep an eye on early preorder deals, like storage bumps or credit. If you care about battery life, camera processing, and on‑device AI, chip choice matters. The Ultra usually gets the most headroom, and that often shows up in sustained performance and imaging.
Samsung has not announced the Galaxy S26 event yet. There is no Unpacked invite on the Samsung Newsroom at the time of writing, and the company has not shared official specs. Treat the timing and model details here as claims from that South Korean report until Samsung says otherwise. Either way, the Samsung Galaxy S26 release date outlook now points to January, not late February.
