RedMagic just dropped something weird. They posted an underwater unboxing of the new RedMagic 11 Pro, and honestly, nobody really knows why. The phone’s launching today in China, and instead of a normal reveal, they went with this whole submerged setup.
The phone looks exactly like what you’d expect from RedMagic. Same bold gaming aesthetic they’ve been doing for years now. Nothing shocking there. But what actually matters here are the specs that leaked right before launch.
Turns out the RedMagic 11 Pro is packing an absolutely massive 8,000 mAh battery. That’s huge even for a gaming phone. And they’re pairing it with 120W wired charging, which should fill it up fast despite the size. But here’s the kicker – they’re also adding 80W wireless charging. That’s way faster than most phones do over a wire, let alone wireless.
Most gaming phones struggle to balance power and battery life. You either get great performance with mediocre battery, or huge battery with slow charging. RedMagic seems to be throwing both problems out the window here.
The phone’s running on Qualcomm’s brand new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip. That’s the absolute top-tier processor right now, built on 3nm architecture with clock speeds hitting 4.6GHz. For gaming, that matters a lot. More power means smoother gameplay and better graphics without lag.
RedMagic’s also confirmed their new dual cooling system. They’re calling it wind and liquid cooling combined, which sounds excessive but probably necessary when you’re pushing a chip this hard. The transparent version shows off those cooling tubes running across the back, which looks pretty wild.
One detail that caught attention – the phone has IP68 water resistance rating. That’s actually rare for gaming phones since they usually have cooling fans that prevent proper sealing. RedMagic figured out how to do both, which is impressive.
The official launch happens October 17 in China at 2:30 PM local time. We’ll get full pricing and availability then. Based on past releases, the base model usually starts around 4,999 yuan, which works out to roughly $680-700.
For anyone serious about mobile gaming, this looks like a strong contender. Big battery, insane charging speeds, top processor, and actual cooling that works. The underwater unboxing was random, but the phone itself seems solid.
