It looks like nubia is getting ready to show off its next big phone. The company’s own Vice President recently dropped some exciting hints on Weibo about the upcoming nubia Z80 Ultra, and a well-known source, Digital Chat Station, seems to back up the claims.
The biggest news is about the screen. Just like its older siblings, the Z80 Ultra is aiming for that perfect, all-screen look with no camera cutout. The selfie camera will once again be hidden underneath the display, and the company official is suggesting they’ve made it even better this time around.
That’s a tricky piece of tech to get right, so any improvement is welcome. The screen itself will keep its super smooth 144 Hz refresh rate, which is great for gaming and scrolling.
On the back, the camera system is getting some interesting tweaks. The main camera is keeping its unique 35mm lens, a favorite for many photographers. But the real upgrade seems to be for the ultrawide camera. It’s reportedly getting a brand-new, larger sensor. In simple terms, a bigger sensor usually captures more light, which should mean much better photos, especially when it’s dark.
They’re also apparently working on new software to fix that weird bending effect you sometimes see at the edges of wide-angle pictures.
We don’t have an exact date yet, but looking back, the nubia Z70 Ultra was released last November. If nubia follows a similar timeline, we could be seeing the full reveal of the nubia Z80 Ultra sometime in December.
