Just after the buzz around the new Xiaomi 17 phones, the company gave us something else to look at: the brand-new Xiaomi Pad 8 and Xiaomi Pad 8 Pro. It seems Xiaomi wants a tablet for just about everyone.
Both tablets are built around the same really nice 11.2-inch LCD screen. It’s got a super sharp 3.2K resolution and a smooth 144Hz refresh rate, which should make scrolling and games look great. The screen also gets plenty bright at 800 nits and supports all the good stuff like Dolby Vision and HDR10.
One cool thing they’re offering is a “Matte edition” for both models. This version has a special texture on the glass that cuts down on glare, which could be really useful.

They look identical on the outside, too. Both are slim at 5.75mm and weigh the same 485 grams. You’ll find four speakers with Dolby Atmos, a fingerprint scanner on the side, and a big 9,200mAh battery inside. The only difference here is charging speed. The regular Pad 8 gets 45W charging, while the Pad 8 Pro gets a faster 67W top-up. They both run the latest HyperOS 3 (based on Android 16) and come with modern connections like Wi-Fi 7 and 5G.
So, where do they differ? It really comes down to power and cameras. The standard Xiaomi Pad 8 uses a Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chip, which is still very powerful, and you can get it with up to 12GB of RAM. The Pad 8 Pro, on the other hand, gets the even faster Snapdragon 8 Elite processor and can be configured with a massive 16GB of RAM.

The cameras are where the two tablets really start to differ. The regular Pad 8 has a simple 13MP camera on the back and an 8MP one on the front. The Pro model seriously upgrades this with a 50MP main camera and a 32MP front-facing camera for much better photos and video calls.
Color Option: You can get both the Pad 8 and Pad 8 Pro in three colors: Black, Turquoise Green, and Ice Crystal Blue
