Realme just dropped some exciting news about their upcoming GT 8 Pro phone. The company confirmed two major upgrades that should make photography fans excited.
The biggest news is the 200MP periscope telephoto camera. This marks the first time Realme has put such a powerful zoom lens in any of their phones. While they haven’t told us which exact sensor they’re using, 200MP is seriously impressive for telephoto shots. Most phones still use much lower resolution sensors for their zoom cameras.
The GT 8 Pro is also getting a 2K display upgrade. That’s a nice step up from the GT 7 Pro’s 1.5K screen. Early reports suggest we’re looking at a 6.78-inch LTPO 8T AMOLED panel, which should deliver crisp visuals and smooth scrolling.
Realme shared these details on their official Weibo page yesterday, along with the first official photos of the phone’s camera design. The camera module looks pretty distinctive with its circular arrangement.
Other rumored specs include the new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor and a massive 8,000mAh battery. The top model might come with 16GB of RAM and run Android 16 with Realme UI 7 right out of the box.
The GT 8 Pro won’t be alone either. Realme plans to launch both the GT 8 Pro and regular GT 8 next month in China. No word yet on when these phones might reach other markets, but the specs suggest Realme is serious about competing with flagship phones from Samsung and other big brands.
That 200MP telephoto camera could be a real selling point. Most people use their phone cameras for everything these days, and having that kind of zoom power in your pocket sounds pretty useful for concerts, sports events, or just getting closer shots without actually moving closer.
The 2K display upgrade also makes sense. People watch tons of videos on their phones now, and that extra sharpness should make Netflix shows and YouTube videos look noticeably better.
We’ll probably learn more about pricing and availability as the launch date gets closer. For now, it looks like Realme is putting together a strong competitive package for their next flagship phone.
