Tecno Spark Slim

Tecno really went all out this time. The company just announced two new phones that are so thin, you might mistake them for fancy pieces of cardboard at first glance. Meet the Tecno Spark Slim and Pova Slim – two smartphones that measure less than 6mm thick while somehow packing everything you’d expect from a modern Android device.

The numbers here are pretty wild. The Spark Slim comes in at just 5.93mm thick, while its sibling, the Pova Slim, measures 5.95mm. Both phones weigh only 156 grams, which is lighter than most people expect when they first pick one up. To put this in perspective, most flagship phones today are around 8-9mm thick, so we’re talking about devices that are nearly 40% thinner than what most folks are used to.

Getting phones this thin wasn’t easy. Tecno had to completely rethink how they build smartphones. They redesigned pretty much every internal part you can think of. The USB-C port? It’s just 0.45mm thick. The vapor chamber that keeps things cool measures only 0.3mm. Even the massive 5,160mAh battery they somehow squeezed in there is just 4.04mm thick.

The company used something they call “Honeycomb space stacking technology” to make everything fit perfectly inside these slim bodies. The back cover is made from aerospace-grade fiberglass that’s only 0.36mm thick. It’s like they took smartphone engineering and turned it into an art form.

Both phones pack some serious display tech too. You get a 6.78-inch curved AMOLED screen with a 144Hz refresh rate and peak brightness that hits 4,500 nits. That brightness level means you’ll see everything clearly even when you’re outside on the sunniest days. The curved edges give these phones a premium feel that you’d normally expect from much more expensive devices.

Here’s where things get interesting with the camera setup. Both phones have a 50MP main camera, but the Spark Slim gets something extra special – a “Mood Light” LED bar that runs along the back. This isn’t just for show either. It lights up with different colors and animations when you get calls or notifications. Think of it as your phone’s way of showing some personality.

Inside, these phones take different paths. The Spark Slim runs on a MediaTek Helio G200 processor, while the Pova Slim steps up to a Dimensity 6400 chipset that brings 5G connectivity to the table. Both should handle daily tasks just fine, though the Pova Slim will obviously be better for gaming and heavier apps.

The battery situation is pretty impressive considering how thin these phones are. That 5,160mAh battery supports 45W fast charging, so you won’t be waiting around forever to power up. There’s even 10W reverse charging, which means you can use your phone to charge other devices in a pinch.

Both phones come with IP64 water and dust resistance, so you don’t have to baby them too much. They’re running Android 15 with Tecno’s HiOS interface on top, plus the company’s AI features are baked right in.

Tecno says they’ll share pricing and availability details sometime this week. Given all the engineering that went into making these phones this thin while keeping the features intact, don’t expect budget pricing. But if you’re someone who values having the thinnest phone in the room, these might be worth waiting for.

The real question is whether people actually want smartphones this thin. Sure, it’s impressive from an engineering standpoint, but some users prefer phones with a bit more heft. Either way, Tecno definitely proved they can push the boundaries of what’s possible in smartphone design.
