Remember when phones kept getting thicker every year? Well, Tecno’s throwing that trend out the window. The Chinese brand is bringing their crazy-thin smartphone to India, and the price might shock you.
The Tecno Spark Slim first showed up at Mobile World Congress earlier this year as just a concept. Most people figured it would stay that way. But now it looks like Tecno’s actually serious about making this thing happen. The phone measures just 5.95mm thick — that’s slightly chunkier than the original 5.75mm concept, but still incredibly thin.
Here’s where it gets interesting. Sources are saying this phone will cost around ₹80,000 ($915) when it hits Indian stores. That puts it right up against premium phones from Samsung and Apple. Pretty bold move for a brand that’s usually known for budget-friendly devices.
The specs actually look pretty solid for such a skinny device. You’re getting a massive 6.78-inch curved AMOLED screen that refreshes at 144Hz. The display can apparently hit 4,500 nits of brightness, which should make it readable even in harsh sunlight.

Camera-wise, Tecno’s going with a 50MP main shooter on the back, plus what looks like another 50MP sensor for ultra-wide shots. There’s also a 13MP front camera for selfies. Nothing groundbreaking, but decent enough.
The real surprise is the battery. Somehow, Tecno managed to squeeze a 5,200mAh battery into this ultra-thin frame. That’s bigger than what you’ll find in many regular-thickness phones. The company’s also throwing in 45W fast charging to top it up quickly.
What’s missing from all these leaks is the processor. At ₹80,000 ($915), people will expect flagship-level performance. But fitting a high-end chipset with proper cooling into a 5.95mm body seems almost impossible. Tecno’s only saying it has an “octa-core processor,” which tells us absolutely nothing.
The timing’s also weird. Samsung just announced their Galaxy S25 Edge, which is even thinner at 5.85mm. Apple’s rumored iPhone 17 Air is also supposed to be super slim. Tecno might be jumping into a very crowded thin-phone market.
The exact launch date is still up in the air, but reports suggest it could arrive in India by September. Tecno hasn’t confirmed the final name either — it might not even be called the Spark Slim when it actually launches.
For a brand that’s mostly known for phones under ₹20,000, asking ₹80,000 is a massive gamble. Indian buyers tend to be pretty price-conscious, especially when it comes to lesser-known brands. But if Tecno can deliver flagship performance in that impossibly thin body, they might just pull it off.
The phone will reportedly come in multiple color options, though the specific shades haven’t been revealed yet. More details should surface as we get closer to the actual launch date.
