Samsung’s First Tri-Fold Phone Has a Charging Drawback

Samsung Tri-Fold Phone May Disappoint in Charging Speed

Samsung is getting ready to launch its first tri-fold smartphone, and people are buzzing about it. This phone is different from anything Samsung has made before. When you open it, the screen gets really big—almost like a small tablet. But there’s one thing you should know: the charging speed is not as fast as some might hope.

What’s New With Samsung’s Tri-Fold Phone?

The Samsung Galaxy Tri Fold is expected to launch in September 2025. It’s designed to fold twice, giving you a huge 10.8-inch OLED screen with a super-smooth 120Hz refresh rate. When folded, you get a handy cover display for quick tasks. The phone packs a triple 50MP camera system, 12GB RAM, and 256GB storage. It’s a premium device, and the price is expected to be high—around INR1,99,990 ($2,400/€2,220) in India.

The phone is a bit heavy at 298 grams, but that’s because of all the extra screen and folding parts. It’s made for people who want the newest tech and a big display for work or fun.

The Charging Letdown

Here’s where things might disappoint fans. The Samsung tri-fold phone is expected to support only 25W wired charging. That’s slower than many other top foldable phones in 2025, some of which offer 45W, 67W, or even faster charging. For a phone this expensive and advanced, waiting longer for a full battery isn’t great news.

And just like other new Samsung phones, there’s no charger in the box. Either you use an old charger or buy a new one.

Compared to Other Latest Tri-Fold Phones?

Right now, there aren’t many tri-fold smartphones on the market. The main competitor is the Huawei Mate XT Ultimate, which launched in September 2024.

Huawei Mate XT Ultimate

  • Main Display: 10.2-inch
  • Charging: Up to 66W fast charging
  • Design: Outward folding (screen is on the outside when folded)
  • Weight: Slightly lighter than Samsung’s tri-fold

Samsung Galaxy Tri Fold

  • Main Display: 10.8-inch
  • Charging: 25W wired (expected)
  • Design: Inward folding (screen is protected when folded)
  • Weight: 298g

So, Huawei’s tri-fold charges much faster—almost three times as quick as Samsung’s model. So you spend less time charging and more time actually using your phone

Final Thoughts

Samsung’s first tri-fold smartphone is a big step forward in design and innovation. The huge screen and folding action will wow anyone who loves new tech. But if you want a phone that charges super fast, this one might not be for you. Other brands, like Huawei, are ahead in charging speed right now. Still, if you want a phone that’s different from the rest, Samsung’s tri-fold could be a fun choice—just be ready to wait a bit longer at the charger.
